The Centre for Research and Preservation of Cultural Heritage has started its journey from 1 September 2023 on the eve of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the college. It was inaugurated by Professor Debashis Bandopadhyay, Vice Chancellor of Kazi Nazrul University. The Centre is primarily an outcome of the British Library-funded Endangered Archives Programme project (EAP 1475) of Dr Tridib Santapa Kundu, Principal of this college. The said project digitally preserved the archival material of the Sadharan Brahmo Samaj, Kolkata. After the completion of the project, all the equipment procured during the project came under the possession of the college, along with the digital copy of the archival material of Sadharan Brahmo Samaj. Thus, the idea of setting up the Centre for Research and Preservation of Cultural Heritage was conceived.
The main objective of the Centre is to carry out research and to preserve the cultural heritage of the locality. It will bring together the scholars based in the higher educational institutions and those working beyond it, the local historians and activists engaged in Folk Studies. Initiatives will be taken to undertake joint projects to explore and preserve the local cultural heritage and to create awareness among the local people to protect their heritage.
