The Centre for Research and Preservation of Cultural Heritage commenced its journey on 1 September 2023 as part of the college's Golden Jubilee Celebrations. The Centre was inaugurated by Professor Debashis Bandopadhyay, vice chancellor of Kazi Nazrul University. The establishment of the Centre is primarily rooted in the British Library-funded Endangered Archives Programme Project (EAP 1475) led by Dr. Tridib Santapa Kundu, Principal of Deshabandhu Mahavidyalaya, Chittaranjan. Through this project, valuable archival materials of the Sadharan Brahmo Samaj, Kolkata were digitally preserved. Upon the project's completion, the college acquired the equipment procured under the project, along with digital copies of the preserved archival resources. These assets inspired the conception and establishment of the Centre for Research and Preservation of Cultural Heritage. The Centre aims to promote research and preserve the cultural heritage of the region. It seeks to bring together scholars from higher educational institutions, independent researchers, local historians, and activists engaged in folk and cultural studies. The Centre will undertake collaborative research initiatives to explore, document, and preserve local cultural heritage while fostering awareness among communities about the importance of safeguarding their historical and cultural legacy.
